How beta glucan works:
Even though beta glucan has been intensely researched for
over 30 years by Western Medicine, how it works is not completely
understood; however, the effects of beta glucan on cancer cannot be
dismissed.
Advanced immune system products are not called "Beta
Glucan", they are correctly called "Beta 1,3/1,6 Glucan".
The specific combination of molecules in a "1,3/1,6"
pattern (known as Active Linkage) found in beta glucan has been proven
to dock with the CR4 receptor of macrophages and natural killer cells
in your body which activate them.
The immune system works on a concept of "self v.
non-self."
Simply put, your immune system should know what belongs in your
body, and its job is to kill everything else.
The immune system views beta glucan as something foreign or
"non-self." Your immune system sees the beta glucan linkage
as something that will cause your body great harm. Your immune
system, will react, will find the beta glucan, kill it, and remove it
from your body.
The next day, you take more beta glucan, and the cycle of
finding it, killing it, and removing it is repeated.
Each time the cycle is completed, your immune system becomes
stronger and more aggressive. At some point, the immune system should
become strong enough and aggressive enough that it starts to recognize
the original cancer cells and starts to kill them. Simply put,
beta glucan gives your immune system a serious "work out,"
which makes it stronger and more aggressive. It is not much different
than having a weak arm - to make it stronger you have to exercise it.
Beta Glucan works differently.
Beta Glucan does not cure cancer; it works on the likely cause of
the cancer - an immune system that does not perform correctly.
Immune system benefits do not come from "beta glucan" or
the contents of a web site; they come from the 1,3 and 1,6 terminal
linked glucose molecules in beta glucan. This is why immune
system products made from beta glucan are called Beta 1,3/1,6
Glucan.
The price, potency, and effectiveness of beta glucan products are
determined by how much of the raw beta glucan can be processed into
Active 1,3/1,6 linkage, without destroying the side-chain molecules of
the 1,3/1,6 linkages.
This
picture is a side view of the raw material "beta
glucan". The Active 1,3/1,6 Linkages are contained in the
red layers. The effectiveness of beta glucan is controlled by
the ability to strip away the outer layers of the molecule without
destroying the naturally occurring 1,3/1,6 molecules in the red
layers.
There exists a variety of different technologies for removing the
unwanted layers of the beta glucan molecules. Some technologies
are more effective than others. Most of the major manufacturers
of Beta 1,3/1,6 Glucan have a patented process for stripping the
1,3/1,6 linkages from the beta glucan molecule. Some
manufacturers can obtain 40% purity, and a few can approach 90%
purity, but the most common level of purity is in the 60% to 70%
range.
This
picture represents a 40% purity level. As indicated, 60% of the
unwanted layers remain. A product with only 40% purity likely
will produce little to no immune system benefits.
The reason is that the 60% that remains attached to the 1,3/1,6
linkages, camouflages or disguises the linkage, and your immune system
will, very likely, not recognize or respond to it.
This is why taking twice as much of a less expensive product will
not be as effective as a small amount of product with greater
purity. As the percentage of Active Linkage increases, the
product becomes geometrically more effective.
